Participants who successfully complete the American Legion Auxiliary Missouri Girls State program in its entirety and finish in good standing will be eligible to apply for the scholarship opportunities listed below.
The availability and amount of scholarships are controlled by and may be modified by the institution. Please confirm the above information by contacting the specific institution.
There are also many leadership scholarships at various schools that Missouri Girls State would qualify you for. Please speak with the Financial Aid Office at the institution of your choice to make sure you are taking advantage of all offers available to you.

 

Missouri Girls State Citizen Leadership Scholarship for Lindenwood University

The American Legion Auxiliary Missouri Girls State Citizen Leadership Scholarship will be awarded to one (1) ALA MGS citizen.  It covers a full 4-year (8 consecutive semesters) college scholarship at Lindenwood University.  Each scholarship is valued at $19,900, covering full tuition, and requires on-campus residency.  This scholarship is offered through the Lindenwood University Office of Admissions and must be completed by June 14, 2024 for consideration.

Lindenwood University Army ROTC offers unlimited full tuition and fees scholarships. On top of the scholarships provided by the Army ROTC, Lindenwood University also covers all room and board expenses for Army ROTC scholarship students. The Army ROTC program allows you to graduate college and have a guaranteed career following graduation in the Army, Army Reserve, or Army National Guard. American Legion

1 at $1000 and 5 at $500

All MGS participants who are descendants of a veteran who served at least 90 days on active duty are eligible to apply for the $1000 Lillie Lois Ford Scholarship. Missouri Girls State participants who are current members of or a descendant of a member of The American Legion, The American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of The American Legion and are unmarried, under the age of 21, and a resident of Missouri are eligible to apply for a $500 Joseph J. Baker University

Number and Amount of Scholarships Vary - $500 on top of academic scholarships. 

As a student demonstrating leadership and character, students who have participated in Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State meet these criteria for academic scholarship consideration. Students must be admitted as full-time degree seeking students at the College of Arts and Sciences in Baldwin City, KS before scholarship consideration. Cottey College

Unlimited at $1,000 each

Missouri Girls State participants who have been admitted to Cottey College by February 1 as full-time incoming freshmen are eligible. Students must provide documentation of participation in Missouri Girls State to the Enrollment Management Office when applying for admission. This $1,000 scholarship will be divided evenly between the fall and spring semesters. These awards are stackable with other Cottey scholarships and are renewable annually with a cumulative 3.0 GPA. Crowder College

$650 per semester

Missouri Girls State high school seniors, graduating from an accredited Missouri High school, who rank in the top 15% of their class or score at least 25 on their ACT qualify for this award. The scholarship is renewable for three consecutive semesters, if the student enrolls in and successfully completes a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. Scholarships will be applied to tuition, fees and books.

The initial scholarship award must be used within one year of testing date or graduation. A+ students are now eligible for this scholarship. Recipient must also sign and return acceptance forms and high school transcripts must be on file to confirm eligibility of scholarship before it will be applied. Culver-Stockton College 

Up to 5 at $1000 each, Renewable

Culver-Stockton College will award up to five $1,000 scholarships to eligible incoming freshmen who successfully completed Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State and have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Applicants must be admitted to Culver-Stockton College in good standing. The scholarship is renewable with a 3.0 GPA. Priority deadline for application is January 1. Hannibal-LaGrange University

Unlimited at $500 per year, Renewable

Hannibal-LaGrange is pleased to offer a Missouri Boys State and ALA Missouri Girls State scholarship to students who are MBS/ALAMGS alumni.  Students who participated in MBS/ALAMGS are eligible to receive a $500 per year renewable scholarship.  Students must be admitted to Hannibal-LaGrange University as a full-time degree seeking student before scholarship consideration will be given.  For more information, contact Brice Baumgardner, Director of Financial Aid, at bbaumgardner@hlg.edu or 573-629-3280.

Missouri Baptist University

$1500 per year

In recognition of outstanding achievements of students completing the Missouri Girls State program, MBU will award those students scholarships valued at $1,500 each per academic year.  Applicants must be admitted to the University before applying for the scholarship.  Each scholarship is renewable each year, but the student must maintain a 2.8 GPA or better to be eligible for renewal.

Missouri Southern State University

10 at $800 each, Renewable

The Missouri Boys State and ALA Missouri Girls State Scholarship is $800 per academic year ($400 per Fall/Spring Semester) and requires a 26 or higher ACT score. It is renewable for a total of 8 consecutive Fall/Spring Semesters if the renewal criteria are met. To be renewed, a student must enroll in at least 12 credit hours/semester at MSSU and complete at least 24 credit hours per year at MSSU with a 3.0 cumulative GPA. The scholarship must be used within one year after high school graduation, will be applied toward student tuition, and can be combined with other academic scholarships such as Honors, MOSO Merit, or A+. Each applicant needs to submit a FAFSA or birth certificate and provide a copy of her Girls State certificate to the MSSU Financial Aid Office. Missouri State University

5 at $1,000 each

Missouri State University will offer up to 5 awards of $1,000 each year to entering freshmen who participated in Girls State. To be chosen for this competitive award, students must have both a solid academic record and a strong record of leadership. This award is non-renewable. It can be combined with other Missouri State awards and scholarships with the exception of the Presidential, University, Governors, and Inclusive Excellence scholarships. Students must apply for admission, submit the General and Departmental Scholarship Application, and provide verification of Girls State attendance to the Office of Student Financial Aid by March 1 of their senior year. Missouri University of Science and Technology

Two students (1 boy and 1 girl) who participated in Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State are eligible to receive a $500 scholarship. Students can apply through Missouri S&T's scholarship database at: [https://mst.scholarshipuniverse.com/public/home](https://mst.scholarshipuniverse.com/public/home). Students must upload a letter expressing an interest in being considered for the scholarship and why and must include leadership qualities and participation / activities / accomplishments at Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State. Financial need will be taken into consideration in selecting the recipients, so students are encouraged to complete a FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. Deadline: February 1. Missouri Valley College

Annual Room and Board: $8,400

Girls State participants will receive annual Room and Board at Missouri Valley College. Requirements include admission to Missouri Valley College and proof of participation in Girls State. All Institutional scholarships are not "stack-able". The one scholarship that gives one the most benefit will be awarded.

Missouri Western State University

5 at $1,000 each

Five non-renewable scholarships in the amount of $1,000 will be offered to first-time freshmen who are enrolled as full-time students and were citizens of the previous academic year at Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State.  Deadline - Priority is March 1st.  Please complete the General Scholarship Application.  For more information, please contact the Financial Aid Office at finaid@missouriwestern.edu or 816-271-4200.

North Central Missouri College

Up to 2 at $500 each

Scholarships will be awarded to incoming freshmen who have attended Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State and selection will be based on academic merit. Applicants must apply for admission to NCMC and complete the NCMC Scholarship Application. Eligibility requirements: ACT composite score of 24 or higher or graduate in top 20% of high school class. Northwest Missouri State University

10 awards at $8,000 each, awarded competitively - Renewable

Northwest Missouri State offers up to 10 President’s Scholarship awards to entering freshmen. This competitive scholarship is awarded based on a variety of factors, including academic performance, leadership, and civic engagement. Your participation in Girl’s State will be an experience that can be considered during our evaluation process for students who are eligible for the President’s Scholarship. Rockhurst University

5 at $500 each

Scholarships will be awarded to incoming first time freshmen who are enrolled full-time and meet Rockhurst admission requirements. These scholarships are renewable. Submit a letter of interest and verification of attendance at Missouri Girls State. Saint Louis University

3 at $1000 each

Three incoming freshmen students who complete Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State are eligible to receive a $1,000 non-renewable scholarship in recognition of outstanding achievement and leadership. State Fair Community College

1 at up to $500

State Fair Community College will award one up to $500 non-renewable scholarship to an incoming freshman with a 3.0 GPA who attended the previous academic year at Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State and demonstrated leadership. The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time degree seeking student at SFCC. State Technical College of Missouri

1 at $1200- Renewable

Applicant  must be a Missouri Girls State Citizen and rank in the top 30% of their high school class to qualify for this tuition waiver. The recipient will receive a work grant valued at $1200 per year, renewable if a 3.000 GPA is maintained and a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester are completed at State Technical College of Missouri. Outside funding available to the student will take precedence over the college tuition waiver. Missouri Girls State participation certificate must be presented to the Office of Financial Aid. Southeast Missouri State University

Unlimited available, $1,000 each

Southeast Missouri State University provides an unlimited number of Residence Life Leadership awards to full-time incoming freshmen. Requirements: live in a Southeast residence hall; 18 ACT or 960 SAT and a 3.0 cumulative high school GPA or test optional with a 3.25 cumulative high school GPA; complete online application for admission at www.semo.edu/apply; students will be recognized for participating in Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State. Stephens College

Stephens College is a private women's college located in Columbia, Missouri. Stephens offers Merit Scholarships ranging from $2,000 to $15,000 that are renewable annually. All Missouri Girls State participants accepted to Stephens with at least a 3.0 GPA, and an ACT score of 20 or above qualify, with the amount being determined by the strength of the recipient's overall academic and leadership credentials. Truman State University

Unlimited at $1,000 each - Automatic, Renewable - Available to all attendees

Accepted students who participated Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State are eligible to be awarded a $1,000 Boys State Scholarship. A separate scholarship application is not required. Students should indicate participation on their admission materials and provide a detailed resume/activities list that includes MBS/ALA MGS and other significant involvement, leadership, and service. The awards are renewable according to the scholarship renewal requirements provided at the time the offer is extended to the student. University of Central Missouri

1 at $500 - non-renewable

Recipients are incoming freshmen at the University of Central Missouri who have, with full participation, satisfactorily completed Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State. Students must enroll as a major in Political Science or International Studies. Applicants are to submit a letter of intent and their composite ACT score by February 1 to Dr. Robynn Kuhlmann at kuhlmann@ucmo.edu.

University of Mississippi (Ole Miss)

5$1000 each - Renewable

University of Missouri (Columbia)

5 scholarships at $1000 each - competitive (nonrenewable)

The University of Missouri-Columbia will award five $1,000 scholarships to incoming freshmen who have attended Missouri Boys State (and five from ALA Missouri Girls State) and have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement. Students who participate in Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State are eligible to receive a $2,500 renewable scholarship in recognition of outstanding achievement and leadership. Scholarships awarded to participants of Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State who are incoming freshmen with a minimum 3.0 cumulative high school GPA. Westminster College

Number and Amount of Scholarships vary

As an excellent representative of leadership and character, which is required of all Westminster scholarship recipients, students who have participated in Missouri Boys State or ALA Missouri Girls State meet this component of eligibility for scholarship consideration. Students must be admitted to the College before scholarship consideration will be given. Williams Woods University

Varies - Renewable

Missouri Boys/Girls State Leadership Award: 1 or 2 awards per year at $2000 (residential student) or $1000 (commuter student). Applicants must have served as the Governor of Missouri Boys/Girls State (official documentation of participation must be provided). Must be accepted to the University, and have a 3.0 High School GPA or higher. This award is renewable. Full-time enrollment is required.

Missouri Boys/Girls State Participant Award: 5 awards per year at $1000 (residential student) or $500 (commuter student). Applicants must have served as a participant in Missouri Boys/Girls State (official documentation of participation must be provided).
